Workshop – Design Thinking

Course by nine61 design agency

About

Before making a product or service a team needs to ask itself the right questions: What customer pains
do we want to alleviate? How does our solution solve the problem at hand? For whom? During this two
days workshop we will show you how to frame these preliminary questions and map answers to them.

Objectives

Be able to use design-inspired methods to spot and frame customer pains, lead in-field research to verify
solution oriented hypotheses, select ideas, prototype what works, test and validate your learning.

Who is this for?

For those who want to learn an actionable and repeatable methodology for generating innovation and
solving problems. No prior knowledge is required to succeed in this module, active participation is asked
from attendees.

SYLLABUS

Define needs, elaborate problems scenarios
Understand problems through user interviews and learn to synthesise them.

Elaborate potential answers by exploring hypotheses
Go from previously defined problem scenarios to framing potential solutions.

Select, iterate, validate
From the established list of solutions we select what looks promising. We iterate on different versions of
our solution. We validate the best alternatives before moving into the final phase of the process.

Prototype it for and audience
Elaborate a testable prototype and crash test it with your target customers.

Christophe Pian:
Christophe studied management at EHL. After graduating he joined a multimedia start-up in Geneva where he spent 4 years managing operations. He got confronted for the first time with the challenges of communication and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams. He saw the fracture between decision makers and technical teams working in silos and decided he wanted to close that gap by using lean, agile and design thinking methods.
